The Kenyan Ambassador to Ireland, Her Excellency Mrs. Catherine Muigai Mwangi and Matt Porter (Rotary Club of Dublin Central)

The Rotary Club of Dublin Central were very pleased to welcome the Kenyan Ambassador to Ireland to the Stephan’s Green club. The Rotary Club of Dublin Central meets there every Wednesday night at 6.30pm for a glass of wine and to chat about the projects we like to support. The Rotary Club encourages people to join them … all our welcome(www.dublincentral.org)

This occasion was very special and was arranged to celebrate the involvement of all 76 Rotary clubs on the island of Ireland, North and South. Rotary Clubs worked together to raise circa 100,000 euro for the Light of Maasai charity and this money was spent on clean water, health and education projects in the village of Rombo, Kenya.

Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Kenya praised the great work of Rotary and Elaine Bannon (founding member of the Light of Maasai). She was very familiar with Rotary and very complementary of the way the funds were spent in her home country. She acknowledged that education was the key to problems in Africa and praised our work in that area of service.
