EDUCATION: Our aim is to build primary schools (one per year) in the interior areas and to improve/increase the few existing schools in these areas. We also aim to build a secondary school which will provide not only academic subjects but vocational training for those students who are not academically inclined. We intend to educate the people as to the importance of educating their children and KEEPING them in school up to secondary level.

FGM/EARLY MARRIAGE: Through educational seminars and health care talks, we aim to wipe our FGM. Female circumcision is still the "rite of passage" for Maasai girls. They will be circumcised between the ages of 12-15 and are then ready to be given in marriage. Our aim is to replace this ceremony with a NON CUTTING ceremony so that the tradition of the Maasai is maintained but without the mutilation of the girls genitals.

WATER: Our aim is to bring clean water to all areas of the district. Where possible we will bring pipelines in conjunction with AMREF (African Medical Research Foundation) which will have a "water kiosk" every 2.5km, and where the pipeline is not a possibility but water is available underground we intend to put a well. All water projects are owned by the community and once implemented the community are totally responsible for the care and upkeep of wells and water kiosks.

HEALTH CARE: It is our dream to have clinics spread throughout the district. At present we have a health care centre at Rombo Catholic Mission which employs only nurses at present (we are waiting a clinical officer posted by the Department of health). As many people have to travel up to 70-80 km to reach the centre smaller clinics in the interior are badly needed.

FEEDING PROGRAMS: We are currently experiencing a very severe drought throughout our district. While in Rombo town itself we had rain during the last rainy season most other parts of the area had no rain at all. Lack of rain means crops rotting in the ground and no pasture for the animals. The government provide some small help but not enough. Feeding programs at schools are badly needed, these can provide prepared meals for the students and the elderly of the area.
